“I LOVED this restaurant. Altho' large, it's cozy & inviting and you are warmly greeted by the host & servers. The food is fabulous-some of the most flavorful I've had in ages-lots of fresh herbs used in the dishes. Great appetizer menu. Extraordinarily delicious beet & dill salad and lamb riblets. That night's special-brined rotisseried pork accompanied with potatoes cooked with the pork juices was one of the most outstanding pork dishes I've ever had. It was so wonderful I'm still thinking about it. The galaktoboureko dessert, filo tubes filled with a creamy semolina custard with pistachio ice cream and quince on the side was SO good. Service was knowledgeable, attentive and friendly without being overly friendly. You can actually hear and see your dining companions. And unlike many busy restaurants, we were not rushed in the slightest. Although on the pricey side, for once I felt like it was totally worth it. I can't wait to go back. ”

“Tonight I was with a friend, and just to make sure I could photo our meeting I did ask for permission, I guess that was the first mistake. I was told I'm not allow to photo my friend or our dinner inside. And this just happened to us next door, so I'll have to figure out if its a Westfeild center policy or just a mixup in the restaurant, I will agree what when a guy "ME" walks in with 10 grand of equipment around his neck, it does make people ask, who are you and why are you asking for permission, that say's to some people that they will get in trouble if they say yes to the photo request. Let it be know, I'm about food and being positive, not the design of my chair or the wood on the door, Cooking food is a thankless job. I was a grill guy, and the people who work in restaurants bust there butt and You'll probably get a positive if your food can stand on its own, in that its unique and editable and I don't have issues the next day, and since 2004 when Angela and I started sfsurve ”

“Tonight, I was with a friend, and just to make sure I could photo our meeting I did ask for permission. I was told I'm not allow to photo my friend or our dinner inside. Bummer, I really wanted to enjoy what I had heard. For consideration, I would like the lark creek steak to consider letting there customers take home memories of there experience and what I heard is OK food. Chances are in there favor that people will have fun taking photos and instead of it just being dinner, you can turn it into a special event like a birthday or a special night, It was my special night and I was turned away. I understand that maybe asking to take photos is not a common request. Please consider having a policy for photos. It did smell good.

Mombo's Pizza |
Cuisine:
Pizza |
Santa Rosa |
“
Not even close to a New York Pizza, the only thing similar is the dirt on the floor and the greasy table tops.
Unless you are here during when school is off, the students hanging around take space up for hours.
The pizza is OK, about the same as Mary's except the crust is a tad better. Lombardi's it ain't. Pricing is on par with LaVera's downtown which runs circles over these guys.
Once was enough unless something changes. ”

“
We had movie tickets at the embarcadero for 8:50 and arrived at the restaurant at 7:30. The waiter understood completely and made sure we had plenty of time to spare. We were able to enjoy a full meal at a normal pace and still make it back to the theater with more than enough time to spare. My ratings are based on the overall experience and while the food was fine with no complaints, the wait staff was exceptional. ”

Mombo's Pizza |
Cuisine:
Pizza |
Santa Rosa |
“Well, if the criteria for evaluating pizza is 3 generations of Italians in New York, I guess, we're experts. So this is our experience. For those of us who grew up in New York, we can faithfully say this is the real thing...New York style pizza. Mombo's is the quintessential working class pizza parlor complete with checkered oil-cloth on the tables, checkered floors, big gas oven, red pepper on the table, etc. etc. A lot of the ingredients are stuck up on shelves behind the counter and at the end of the restaurant for everyone to see. If you are sensitive, finicky, or snobbish - you won't like this place. This is what you find in Queens, Brooklyn, Staten Island, and Long Island. So if you are looking for the right crust with the right sauce with the right cheese, you'll find it here. Ask them to heat up a slice for you, sit around & talk to people, and savor the pizza, it's like a visit back to New York for a quick bite. ”

El Farolito |
Cuisine:

Mission |
“Hello, again.... It's 16 degrees or something here today, January 2nd. Where's here? Oh, upstate New York. I'm cold, hungry, but not afraid, just a bit homesick, okay A LOT homesick for some sunshine and good food. My thoughts again go back to the cah-RA-zee days of my youth in SF, when I worked as a secretary downtown at a software company full of cool computer geeks. At lunchtime, someone would hop over (yeah, sometimes on a motorcycle) to what used to be called El Faro's for what were gargantuan burritos (the kind that lay you out flat on the 'carpeted' lunchroom floor). A current friend has a son who lives in the mission district now, and wouldn't you know it - he says he has BEEN there, and says that though the name is different - El Farolito, things are just as I described them: tiny place, huge burritos, delicious. And of course, I always got a Dos Equis (sp? XX works). I haven't been there since 1976, but aren't you curious? You know you are. ”

Rotunda |
Cuisine:
American (New) |
Downtown |
“Even after we finished lunch there, I just can't believe Rotunda on top of Neiman Marcus can serve really fine f%d over & beyond most other shopper cafes. D free hot chicken consomme, popovers & strawberry butter were a warm hello from d kitchen. A great way to rev up appetite. My sage polenta cake ($22) l%ked like a delicacy, with chanterelles sauteed in a divine sauce on top of browned polenta cake. D polenta had an intricate silky texture, & when eaten w/ d mushr%ms, delighted all my tastebuds. Mama mia! Her lobster spring rolls ($18) came in 4 half-pieces w/ ponzu dip & petite salad. D fillings tasted succulent, despite a thick wrap. Personally I would prefer d thinner Philippine lumpia wrap. Cappuccino was strong & served hot. 1st class service thru'out. Dis place has semi-palatial ambience, w/ lots of curves & some view of Union Sq on 1 side. What a special place! If they turn it into a stand alone restaurant & keep open after 5 for dinner, I'll be 1st to sign up. :-) 2009! ”
